I also have Supro Thunderbolt in a non-original cabinet to sell for a friend. $500.00 at the show, if any one is interested. I am not interested in shipping either amp!

I am staring at an original right here in my practice room. one that i got for free! I gotta tell you, they are fantastic amps. Of course you already know that.
I use mine for small gigs and it is great with my ricks and a telecaster. It is one of the good ones with the fender tweed style cabinet. The closest thing I have to it is a cloned tweed fender 5E5 pro. Sounds similar.
$500 might be a little steep for the amp in that shape, but the chassis and speaker would be cool to have. could whip up a correct cabinet in a couple days....

I have a working Thunderbolt that someone had chopped out and made into an amp head. I suppose I should try to find an empty amp to put it back into... |

Considering some are going at close to $2000.00 on Ebay I wish I had an original cab for this one.
I could not buy a kit and build and amp that sounds this good for $500.00!! |

You are right I built a SUPRO clone the two transformers from MERCURY TRANSFORMERS
http://mercurymagnetics.com/pages/mainframe.htm
Cost me $300.00 15" Jenson speaker was $130.00
the tubes were about $154.00 the cap resistors and stuff was about $45.00 the chassis $34.00 I got the TOLEX, piping, Burch plywood $156.00
BUILDING AMPS MUST BE LIKE BEING ON DRUGS
YOU CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF IT
You are always changing things to suite your ear
A real Amp builder never Keeps it all together for to long before he is tinkering again

I have a stock Thunderbolt. It was my first amp and all original. I use it once in a while at BBQ jams etc. Not much of a bass amp, but sure works for Teles! |
