I don't intend to bid but was curious who the maker was? With the horseshoe type pup, I thought Ricky but not sure if they made anything in wood. Is the tone knob missing or is that a screw?
Vintage lap steel on eBay.

Thanks, Ron

Saw that too, Ron, wondering if maybe it was an 'early Oahu tonemaster' kinda lapper? I'm thinkin' the 'tone control' is missing also. Bit beat up but interesting..? hmmm ? dan

Body looks to be an old KAY, but that pickup mystifies me. It is certainly not a Ric pickup.

From some of the history I have read, a few companies tried the horseshoe pickups, and were advised by Rickenbacher to back off. Epiphone had a model with a 'shoe pickup, and I had heard of one other brand also.

This looks similar to a Recording King I own. I believe the Recording King was related to Gibson, if I remember right. The lap steel shown in the picture has a similar body shape and color, though the pickup is not the same as mine.

Dan,
You might be right, it does have that shape. I wonder why there is no trace of the name on the peghead? Did Recording King use this type of pup?

It's not a Gibson Recording King or even the later models made by Regal. It appears to be an early Stella (Kay) or even a Vega. The slotted peghead is throwing me off a bit but I'm leaning towards the Stella brand. Both companies used this thinner (1") horseshoe pu on their very early models and had a similar body shape.

A forumite emailed me as he had trouble posting. He said exactly as you, Ty, a Stella or Vega.

Seller answered my question, it only has a volume control. That's not a knob missing but a screw.
