Comping on the PSG is not as common as it might be, given a tuning structure that would support it. Below is a jazz tune (FOUR by Miles Davis) that has reasonably sophisticated chords. We will just show the first 16 bars here to illustrate a tuning structure that lends itself to comping.
Notice that the only changes needed are NC, P1, and P2.
Notice that the chord roots are all on string 8.
Notice that all adjacent intervals are on adjacent strings.
What is not shown is that the chord Rs & 5s are also on the lower strings.
This tuning setup is simplicity itself (minimal hardware).

The jazz cats should love this one…don’t need the keyboards for comping anymore.

I use it as a 14 string setup. All the b5, #5, 6, b9, #9 etc. changes for altered chords are in the full setup. What is shown above is the basic structure with the changes needed for FOUR.
