I have been working lately on the Alkire Tuning
and in writing arrangements I found the format of
Music Notation above Tablature consumes way too
much space....for me anyway. For those with a
knowledge of music is the undernoted alternative
a possible option.
I think it would work well for all tunings for non
pedal steels. In regard to pedal steel I am not sure
considering pedal notations etc. cluttering up the
staff.
Here is the MP3

.....and a portion of the music.
Would this work for you Alkire lovers and others?

Roy, as you know the Alkire tuning is the main tuning I play and this works real good for me. I think this is a great way to tab songs out. Let me know when you get some more songs done and I will order them from you. I'd like to see some Hawaiian songs tabbed like this also. By the way I will be contacting you about your Leavitt course in a couple of days.

Thanks Mel Very Happy
This system is still a work in progress.
To examplify that,,, the half note in the
second measure above should be a quarter note.

Your feedback and support is important and appreciated.

I am facinated with the Alkire tuning...so much
so,,, that I have designated a 10 string Fender,
which was a gift to me,,,,for playing and
experimentation. See photo below.
The fretboard I made from a peice of wood,
decorated by my grandaughter ... kind of "silly"
but I love it and use it a lot.....during commercials
while watching TV.
All the best to you.

Roy, as your former internet student I can say that you continue to impress me! I really like your idea on the Alkire tab. A single note and the applicable chord is all anyone should need so the same with the tablature.
A side note. At the HSGA convention in Joliet this year there were three Eharp players, which is an increase over previous years, and next year I am hoping to get up enough courage to play. I think the Eharp is making a bit of a return to respectability.
