While I'm no stranger to playing the music scene, I am new at playing steel and Forum member. I had been thinking about trying the the steel for some time, but it wasn't until after an encouraging conversation with one of the SG Masters back in 2006, I went ahead and invested in a Jerry Brightman
"Performance" D-10 SG. It's and interesting change from my Tele and Strat,but I've been having a great time learning this complex yet wonderful instrument. I even got to play at my first steel jam last month. When I was looking through the Forum membership listing, I came across the name of an old friend (Jim Hall). He joined this Forum back in 1998. A couple times or so, Jim played steel and dobro in my band "Rudy Hawk and the Hawkeyes" back in the early 70's at the start of our musical popularity in the Maryland, DC, and Northern Virginia area. Jim may not have known it then, but his playing skills added a whole new dimension to my list of song material (thanks Jim).
Since Jim was already committed to another group at the time and doing some recording, I managed to talk one of Buddy Charlton's students/teacher Terry McIntyre into playing steel in my band. We had a great run during the 70's. Some of my former members have passed on now, though I'm not sure about Terry. He was Texan who liked to vacation in Florida. If anyone has info on him, I would appreciate getting it. He use to play a red Sho-Bud ProII.
I've gotten a heap a useful infomation concerning the steel from this Forum membership. Thanks to every one. I'm proud to be a member.

I'm not quite their with the tele licks, another year maybe, good Lord willing. I think my tele has taken a back seat to my steel, except when I want to sing. Yes, this instrument pretty much rounds out my musical interests. Thanks again all.
