Hey all I just got me a Fender Deluxe 8 (70's vintage I think) with the 2 plain black pickups. I don't entirely understand the controls, can someone clue me in? There are two main knobs, seems like volume & tone (dried out capacitor so most of the roll-off is in the last bit of turning range), and then there is the mysterious wheel under the bridge which does something - is this the blend control? I read elsewhere that this cuts out one pickup completely but not the other, and in the middle they are wired out-of-phase for hum cancellation. Is this right?
Thanks!! |

Paul,
Yes, you are exactly correct.
I don't know that the capacitor is dried out, mine is the same way. Anyway, it makes it easier to get the "boo-wah" effect.

Paul, mine works the same way. One knob is volume the other is tone with most of the effect near the end of travel. The bridge pickup is always on so usin the blender control adds more of the neck pickup to the mix. At some point you can really dial in a wonderful sound with the right amount of tone and a mix of both pickups. |

Thanks! Maybe the tone is designed like that on these. . . |
