Can Kluson Deluxe shaft be repaired?

After 50+ years of dedicated service the "5th" tuner shaft on my MOTS Maggie just peeled off at the spline... Crying or Very sad

I posted in WTB looking for a replacement, I have StewMac Kluson style on now that work ok but only leave room for a couple string winds-and those have to go up.
note how these have old Fender-style top load.
Ever repair or replace the shaft? This is a fine set of tuners and I'd like to keep using them.

I hear that you can replace the shafts-IF you're lucky enough to have the tabs that hold the covers on not peel off, but if they're broken anyway... Winking
