MSP Productions(Mississippi Steel Players) is in the process of expanding. Carr's Steel Guitar Shop and all of the MSP events, shows, etc. are being put under MSP Productions and operated as one. Also in the process is the addition of more PSG dealers, as well as, string dealers and we're currently checking into stocking amps for steel guitar only. We'll also be stocking new volume pedals and accessories as well. Another item we're expanding outside of Mississippi is our investment program for investors. Before it was limited to Mississippi folks only but now it's been changed to include all 50 states. 95% of our sales are outside of Mississippi, so therefore, it's only fair to expand the program. Email me at carr@bayspringstel.net for more details. Starting early in 08', our inventory list will include keeping 20 to 30 guitars in stock and ready to go. Also in 08', free shipping will be available on all new guitars purchased through MSP Productions. We only sell and ship in the USA. Our plans are to build MSP into one of the largest PSG suppliers in the southeast. Our first two years have been good but I haven't really pushed the business in 07', as we've been getting a few things out of the way, getting ready for 08'. Free memberships are available and anyone wanting to recieve our MISSISSIPPI STEEL newsletter when it's ready, just needs to email me. The newsletter will be featuring pics and articles on Mississippi steel players and MSP shows, as well as, info on MSP Productions, including a complete list of guitars, etc. that are in stock at the current time. You won't find any better prices or service than ours. I personally oversee everything from a string to a new psg. MSP Productions was already here but was under a different name. Now everything has been placed under MSP. Come join us at MSP! |

Billy....this is fantastic.......I want everyone to know how much I trust and respect Billy, and the way he does business. He is, by far, one of the fairest business associates I've ever dealt with. If Billy tells you something, you can count on it to be honest. Great to hear of great things happening for you, man.........HAL _________________ HAL...Excel D-10 w/ 8 & 5. MSP now has a new Vice President. Ellis Olsen from Vancleave, MS. has accepted the slot. Ellis will be MSP's representive covering the entire Mississippi Gulf Coast area. He will have a role in MSP events for bringing in new players/singers and public relations work in the coast areas. Ellis is MSP's 2007 Country Music Singer of the Year in support of steel guitar. He's also one of the best crowd pleasers I've ever seen, especially where dancing is performed/allowed. At our Aug.3rd big show, Ellis was the most requested singer there from the crowd and he was in the mix with some of the best. Ellis will be a headliner at our Dec.7th MSP show coming up in Laurel, MS. Playing steel guitar behind Ellis will be one of Louisiana's finest pickers, Royce Tarver also. Welcome Ellis, as MSP's Vice President, Southern District(MSP, VPSD). I'll be searching for another VP after first of the year to handle northern Mississippi as well (MSP, VPND). More later! |

Hi Billy.
I don't think we have ever met, but I'm one of the "good ole boys" who was born in Mississippi and spent the first 14 years of his life there. My credentials include friendships with Hal Higgins and Tommy Young. Hal did the inspirational vocals on my first CD a few years ago, and Tommy lives in my old home town.
This post is the first I have heard of your venture, and I wish you the best of good fortune. _________________ Pioneers of Western Swing HOF, Seattle 2005

Looking forward to Dec show. Billy you told me Jim Parker could play anything so I just sing anything that comes to mind. Next time I'm not even gonna tell him the keys. Working with such great steel players is a joy. Someone said he could stretch a piece of barbed wire and make it sound good. Think I'll learn Cattle Call and check that out. See you soon.

Billy,
Thanks. The Gulfport show is one of my favorites to play. We are going to try to make the first one after the new year gets here.

Thanks guys for the nice comments. Dec.7th is fast approaching and I believe a lot of folks are ready for our second MSP show in Laurel. I'm still in the process of switching everything over from Carr's Steel Guitar Shop to MSP Productions. I plan on having the final things taken care of that I need to around the first of the year(0 and then we can get MSP to really moving. I have made some changes since my first post on this topic. For one, I plan on keeping only 4 or 5 new guitars in stock instead of the higher number I mentioned earlier. The Magnum, Carter Starter & Fessenden will be my new guitars in stock. Trade-ins are welcome also. I've decided to pursue the Classic Country/Steel Guitar shows here in Mississippi instead of having to run a steel shop full of guitars. As many of you probably know, operating a shop like this requires a 24/7 operation. You can't just be off because players from everywhere are calling around the clock, all the time and you have to be available for that. I've enjoyed doing this but for me to continue, I would pretty much have to take the business to another level. I'd rather keep it small with 4 or 5 guitars and be able take care of my regular customers that buy from my shop. I also have started working from 10 to 6, five nights a week. So basically here's what MSP Productions will be doing. The new guitars I mentioned will be available. We'll have two MSP shows per year. Once a month, on a Friday night, we'll have a Classic Country night out at a location in Laurel to be announced. MSP staff players will be the band. I'll handle steel guitar duties and will probably invite other steelmen to come in and play in my spot on a regular basis. Singers will be MSP members/staff and special guests, as well. Along with keeping MSP Productions alive and well, our staff will also be going down to the Gulf Coast whenever my good friend, Bill Stafford puts together another show. We do have another logo for MSP now that's available. More later! |

The Dec.7th MSP show will be rescheduled in early 2008. We will not have the show as earlier planned. I'm looking at sometime in February 08, more than likely for our next MSP show. So many folks are really busy in December, so therefore, I believe that after the holidays that everyone will be ready to play/sing without having to arrange schedules around parties and so on. Also in the works right now, I'm talking with the leaders at the Petal American Legion Post in Petal, MS. about having a once a month, Friday night dance that features various players/singers. We'll probably move our big MSP Classic Country/Steel Guitars show to Petal also. More on the Petal thing later, as things develope. Thanks to all of our MSP supporters and special thanks to our new Vice President, Ellis Olsen. Ellis is really working hard for MSP in the Gulf Coast areas around Vancleave, Gulfport and parts of Alabama. We're looking forward to a great year in 2008 and we'll also be awarding the MSP Steel Guitar Player of the Year award at our next show in 08. |
