So to Reiterate for the benefit of those who want to know..
His FIRST recording on electric Hawaiian guitar was on Dec 12th 1934 ..'My Isle on Hilo Bay' Sol Ho'opi'i and his Novelty Quartet American Brunswick 55079..
In a letter dated 1973 The Count Christian Rosenborg says that the recording was made at 3:30pm on the 12th of December 1934.. This information he got DIRECT from the Brunswick archives as he was privy to them.

Not so sure Howard, but when you start shaving we'll make a note of that !! (We know you do your legs, we've seen them enough times LOL)

I remember my grandfather with his badger brush, lather cake, and cup. He had great vibrato and worked up a good lather. Come to think of it, I bet that's how all of those early Hawaiian players developed their vibrato. I suppose the guys who missed spots and weren't all that clean shaven, were not the better players. Oh well, wax on, wax off.
Yep electric was new fangled & high tech.
They should have sold kits....badger brush, cake, & Tricone.
The C6 seminar should be wonderful. Last year at Jim Heffernan's dobro worksop, a fellow flew in from Ireland to take the seminar. Talk about devotion.

Sol first used an electric shaver in March 1945. Most think that it was December 1944; but that was the date he first used an electric nose-hair trimmer.  |

I believe he posed with a Remington but that's because they were his sponsors, he secretly used a Braun but in '45 that wasn't seen as "Politically Correct" especially given his liking for that guitar brand that was also a little suspect re the name's origin
