There is an 8 second .mov clip of Jody Carver playing "Caravan" at Norwalk last month.
Click here, then go to the bottom of the page to the last picture.
Click on the pic to play the clip, or right-click to download.
In just 8 seconds, Jody shows how it's done.
Many thanks to our buddy Mike Gross for his patience and dedication that made this possible.

Great stuff! Nice size, good sound quality. This requires QuickTime to view properly, for those of you who don't know what a .mov file is.
The file is 4.2 Mb in size, so if you're using a modem, be prepared for a long download.
Thanks for sharing.

Some primo tapping' & chatterin' going on in that clip!
There's another 8 second clip of Jody playing "Steelin' The Blues" on the Jerry Byrd Fender.
The second photo from the bottom (on the same page) links to it. |

Rick, those videos were excellent. Thanks for posting them. I took the liberty of converting them to another format for those that might not be able to open the Quicktime format and Jody I emailed them to you. Your awesome dude!

Thanks Andy!
I should mention that the video was shot by Mike Gross's wife Susan.
Thanks Susan! There's enough in those 8 seconds to keep a lot of fellers busy for quite a while . .[This message was edited by Rick Alexander on 09 December 2005 at 05:46 PM.] |

Rick,
It is very interesting that these two clips were taken by mistake. We got a new digital camera from our kids and Susan was just trying to take a couple of pictures of Jody for my "Swingin' West" web site and low and behold! Glad that the mistake was able to bring lots of pleasure for Jody and his fans.

I've done the same thing with my camera on more than one occasion. It's so easy to turn the dial to the video setting and make an accidental moviola. In this case it was definitely a happy accident. When I do it, it's always something goofy . .

That happens to me too. I press the shutter relaese & nothing happens until I discover that the little wheel has shifted. I have a little clip of Bobby Ingano from the 2004 HSGC that I wasn't aware of until I looked at my photo folder. He wasn't playing though. Jeff Au Hoy and Derek Mau are in that vid also.
I seem to remember having one of Joe Wright also but I'm not sure from when.
Well, that's modern technology. Could you imagine if they re made "Gone With The Wind" shot with all 8 second clips?[This message was edited by HowardR on 09 December 2005 at 08:22 PM.] |

Yeah, then they'd put 15 minutes of commercials in between each segment!
It's funny how 8 seconds sounds like no time at all, but when you're riding a bull or watching Jody Carver demonstrate his tappin', chatterin' and bar slammin' techniques you realize that a lot can happen in 8 seconds . .
And you also realize that Jody is a master of the Steel Guitar. He makes it look effortless, but it's the result of thousands of hours of practicing and performing. |

Hi this is Jody's grandson. An old and dear friend of my poppy asked me to post this for him and to thank Rick Alexander for the great website that Rick did up for Jody. All of this would not have been possible if it were not for Rick Alexander. here is the message from Jim Greenhill who is a Regional Sales manager for Paul Reed Smith Guitars Inc

Subject: Jody Carver's Website...
Dear Y'all,
Jody Carver was the Music Man Rep in the Northeast back in my 'Jim's Music' days as a Music Man Dealer...
Previous to Music Man, Jody was one of the main Fender Reps during the Leo Fender days.
Imagine a snappy dresser and never ending one-liners...
Jody is a legend in several worlds, as a musician, sales rep, dedicated husband, father, grandfather, human being, etc. He's probably a legend in other areas I don't even know about!
There's a TON of interesting info on this website. Jody used a few photos of mine in his Music Man section...Who ever designed this web site should be proud of what he has done for Jody as well as those of us in the music business are.
I'm honored that I got to meet this man through my good friends, Music Man Reps Ron Taylor and Luke Morris, and to spend time with Jody during my Music Man years.
I can't wait to read the book he's been working on! Hurry Jody I cant wait and want to extend my condolences to you for the loss of your wife. Hang in there, we all love you and I know of no one who has a bad word to say about a prince of a guy. You my friend are truly a Legend in the world of Steel guitar
Livin' the dream, Jim

Just received a phone call from the "Knight" himself and he told me that he still can not bring up these movie clips. However, he is resting, feeling better and is being taken care of by a private nurse, Sheila. He also told me that she brought her guitar and can really play jazz. Maybe we can create a new Johnny Cucci for the 21st century and get Jody to do a new version of the Hot Club of America. [This message was edited by Mike Gross on 10 December 2005 at 08:31 AM.] |

It's a darn shame Jody can't see the clips. Get that man a new 'puter!
Bless you Nurse Sheila - take real good care of the Tweed Knight. He's still got plenty of hot licks left . .
