Hi all,

I've been (happily!) hosting the San Jose steel jams in recent years. http://www.rahul.net/thinker/steeljam.html The last event was Nov 2006, and people have been asking when the next gathering might take place. My problem is that I'm fiding I'm too indispensable to the event, Embarassed and if something were to come up* on the day a jam was slated for, there'd be no way I could alert everybody and folks would drive hundreds of miles to find the doors locked.

Right now I'm looking for a co-host/alternate would could backfill in my absence. I'm not soliciting volunteers here on the Forum....the person would have to be a member of my church since the event is held at the church's facilities, so I'm asking around among our congregation. It's a lot to ask of somebody because it takes over the whole day, so I'm not too sure I'll be able to rustle up volunteers. But I'll try!

Anyway, for those who've been wondering about the next jam, that's why I haven't scheduled one to this point. I'm working on it!

(* My Mom, who is 85 and in a care facility for disability due to strokes, has had a few brushes with health crises this year. She lives near Philadelphia. If I got a call right when I had a jam scheduled and had to rush East....well....you can see the predicament.)

Bill, I will be happy to find lodging in the area so I could be on site anytime early in the morning to help set things up, and cleanup afterwards. So when you are asking around your church for a co-sponsor, please do offer my services as an assistant.
