Lately I've been intrigued with rhinestone jackets and such. Don't really care for the Porter Wagoner type but was speaking of the kind I've seen Marty Stuart, Jay Dee Maness, Gram Parsons, etc. wear. I've looked on the internet but other than Nudie, can't find any such items.
My question is, has anyone had any success with homemade or locally tailored items like this?

I was in a weastern wear store today and saw a nice Rockmount with chain stitching and rhinestones. $89. I think the Rockmount website has it for $85

For me, I like the fancy stitching and piping rather than the rhinestones.

Marty Stuart mostly wears Manuel.

Katy K in Nashville has a number of nice designs and a bit more affordable.

Vintagewesternwear.com has a nice sellection.

Rockmount.com is a nice site.

Steve,

I have been looking for a western shop in the Twin Cities area. Where is the one you are talking about?

Rhinestone clothing is custom and VERY expensive. Manuel Clothiers out of Nashville is the king. I own three Marty Stuart band rhinestone jackets. One was from the "Tempted And Tried Video".

This shirt is from Scully, a brand that can be found on the "vintage western wear" site that Steve mentioned. They have some jackets as well, but their not as busy as Marty's.

The detailing on this shirt is amazing........great brand. Their jackets must be tremendous up close.

There's another guy who came up working for Manuel when he had his shop down on Lankershim Blvd. in NoHo and he's got his own shop now a few blocks down the street from where Manuel's place was. His name is Jaime - pronounced "Hy-mee". But his stuff - like Manuels,is all hand made to order and real expensive. So what I've been doing is getting Mexican import stuff like this one I picked up for $35 at some little Mexican western wear joint down on San Fernando Rd. I've seen some cool embroidery on jackets like cock fights and Dia De Los Muertos imagery - which is the cultural roots of the Greatful Dead artwork,BTW. Anyhow it's all a helluva lot cheaper than the boutique stuff and at least as cool with a great southwest vibe. You just have to look around the Hispanic neighborhoods.

Absolutely...Jaime's the man. He makes all of Dwight's stuff, and he made the stuff that we wore in the band.

I was in Wennicks up in Ham Lake last week. On Hwy 65. Saw the rhinestone Rockmount as there along with a few other Rockmounts. They had a few nice "retro shirts", one with muscical notes on the yokes but mostly the modern style shirts.

Schatzlein's on Lake street usually carries some Scully's.

Pleasent Hills Saddle shop in Rogers and Lakeville sometimes has some of the retro shirts.
