For sale: Rickenbacker lap steel, unique and gorgeous. (See pictures below.) Appears to be a 1951 model, although this could be off by +/- a year. Black, with white metal plates, and a chrome pickup top. Some slight nicks on headpiece and a few light nicks (from finger picks) on “far” or treble metal plate. Body is black “Bakelite,” volume and tone controls are without noise, pickup is original, tuners are original, case is the “weight-balanced” style. I have seen several of these in the last few years come up for sale, and this one is, by far, in better shape than any of them. Like many of the post-war models, there is no serial # on this lap steel, but the Patent# is: 2089171. Case is in excellent shape inside, good shape on outside top and sides, scuffed on bottom. Two storage compartments inside case. Case interior is excellent plush-lined, and is mold-fit for this lap steel.

Yes; you saw this posted a couple of years ago. I thought I had it sold, but then the fellow backed out.

I live in Saint Louis, Missouri. You can pay this guitar a personal visit if you're here for the forthcoming steel guitar convention. Feel free to phone me at: (314) 966-2167 afternoons or evenings, CST.

Price is $900 firm. I'm not coming down on price; I know what it's worth, and as we used to say on the farm, "It ain't eatin' no hay," so it's costing me nothing to hang on to it. Pay by cash, money order, or PayPal. (PayPal add 3%.)

Francis, it sure looks like a very nice guitar in excellent condition.

I have one just like this and a '35 and IMHO there really isn't that much difference in the quality, tone or construction.

Love them Bakelites Cool
