| I am not necessarily looking for something used here. I like what I guess you would call Texas dance hall music or old country. Stuff like Jake Hooker and Bobby Flores play at dances. I do NOT like modern country music played on FM radio. I have nearly all of John Hughey's tracks and I love them. Can any of you recommend some good tracks for this type of music that are of the quality equal or close to John's? |

| I have one or two of the Billy Phelps tracks and a few of the Jeff Newman tracks. They seem to be done with by a Band In A Box or something, not by a session band like John Hughey's. I still enjoy them, but I am getting in a rut. I always seem to go to the same favorites. I might try some of the Sweeney tracks. Thanks for your help. |

| "Texas Dance Hall Classics" tracks were made with mostly real instruments; the only programmed stuff is drums and keys. Acoustic bass, tictac, acoustic and electric guitars are all played by humans. It's like a band with a drummer that doesn't rush or drag and a piano player who stays out of the way. |

I vote for Steve Alcott's tracks, Herb Steiner's, too, if it's Texas-style tracks you crave. Jeff Newman's are also fabulous, not quite so TX-centric, but outstanding. BIAB tracks are functional, but they "ain't got soul."
I also encourage you to buy direct from the source so they earn the little bit of profit for all their hard work. It doesn't cost much more than used courses, but it benefits the authors who did all the work.

Don't forget, Bobbe Seymour has track CDs available for most of his albums. They are the same session recordings that back him for the albums...top quality LIVE musicians!! I've got 6 of his CDs and they are just great to play along to. Reasonably priced, too.
