Anyone know if Ronnie is using a steel player ? Ronnie will be in Jackson Ms. on Friday Oct. 5th and I am off from any gig that night and would like to see the steel man if he has one.... oh and I'd listen to Ronnie a little too.

I don't think Ronnie's got a steel in the band. When he was on tour with George Strait, there was no steel in the band.

All the times that I've seen Ronnie in concerts, there's never been a steel

I was on a show this past Labor Day that Milsap headlined in Beaumont, TX at the Ford Park Amphitheater - he had no steel in his group.

Ronnie Milsap not having a steel is like having a car without tires....I've always liked Ronnie, but I would definitely not go to a concert of his if I knew there was no steel. Even Conway in his latter years didn't bring a steel, as least the one I went to. What a shame!!!

I saw Ronnie this summer at an outdoor venue here in Oregon. He put on a great performance. The man is a true artist and brilliant musician. No, I was hoping for a steel player too, but it seems all the electronic keyboards took the place, though not really, of the beloved pedal steel. Still, it was the first time I ever got to see him perform live, and it was a memorable performance.

Dennis Graves,so right,Just a few weeks before we lost him,The band I was in at the time opened a show for Conway,I was really excited to see John H.on steel,I did'nt see a steel set up for his band,His bass player [seems like it was John's brother, not sure now it's been awhile]anyway he told me Conway dropped the steel to get away from the hard country sound I really don't know if this was the reason or not[just what I was told],For years John's playing MADE Conways records hits,Lost in a feeling is a good example,I was so disappointed after we did our little 45 minute opening show I packed my rig up and went home.At least we were able to still hear John's phenomenal playing with Vince, don't you know.

Yeah Charles, I'm one of those purist country music lovers that still likes that ole crying, cheating, beer drinking music. I just simply love it and John on Conways songs just tore me up. I know everyone doesn't like that old music, but that's ok. I do and always will.

No steel, no show for me! I won't even buy a CD or anything w/o PSG. There's been several groups over the years I've basically ignored because of that. I always liked Conway but after he quite using PSG, I stopped listening to him also.

I agree Billy,I have made the statement[IMO]No STEEL no COUNTRY,I have been ridiculed for saying that,But that's OK,will NEVER change my mind.I packed uped and went home without watching Conways show, because John was'nt there,Did'nt have to pay for that show, sure as hell won't PAY to see some local band that is booked as country, but has no steel.Don't you know.
