A beautiful cut from Jerry Byrd's "Christmas in Hawaii" CD is now on the jerrybyrdfanclub site. Give it a listen and really get into the mood. Perhaps you'll get one for Christmas if you're a good person. |

That is a really nice Christmas present! Thanks for sharing that with us. Does anyone happen to know what tuning Jerry used on that particular song?

I have a cassette of the "Christmas In Hawaii" by Jerry Byrd. I wish Cord International or some one would re-release it on CD. The tunes are:
Side One
Christmas Island
Winter Wonderland
What Child Is This
Mele Kalikimaka
Christmas In Hawaii
Side 2
Silver Bells
Silent Night
White Christmas
Away In A Manger
Blue Christmas
Musicians on the session were:
Jerry Byrd - Steel Guitar
Hiram Olsen - Rhythm Guitar
Kalani Fernandes - Bass
Paul Martinez - Ukulele
Francis Ho'okano - Vibes
Just thought you would like to know the names of the tunes on the recording. I don't know for sure but the tune Silver Bells sounds like Jerry was using the diatonic tuning. Scotty |

THANKS to you once again, Brad.......
Scotty, that was very thoughtful of you. I hope Santa will take a tip from you and surprise all of our Jerry Byrd fans this coming Holiday Season.....especially Jack Knight 'cause he's been really, really good.
I would've bet my favorit Nick Lucas pick that Jerry played that on C6th rather than his Diatonic tuning but, I could easily be wrong. |
