Well I did my first gig with my new BlackJack and all I can say is FANTASTIC..... What a great performing guitar. This guitar has a great sound and plays so easy. I can not say enough good about this guitar for the price you just can not find a better guitar. Just my opinion and yes every buddy has one. But I think David, Harry and Dawn have truly hit a home run with this one.

David how do you compare two guitars that really are so different. All I can say is they both have their own sound. I like the way they both sound now that being said I did order the same pickup as I have in my COMMEMORATIVE so I have two different sounds to choose from on my Blackjack. Both are great and I think for the average person who would listen to you play would probably not tell the difference, I can. Now that being said we all know sound that is good to me may not be good for you. OK now that that is out of the way, I can sit down and play either of the guitars and the feel is so close now that I have all my pedals set the same that one could change every song and have no problem in doing so. They are so close it is scary but in a good way. I do think the Blackjack is one great guitar for the price and anyone wanting to get a work horse type guitar that is pro all the way you can't go wrong. Just my opinion and we all have them good or bad. I now have done three gigs with it and the last one was damp and cool and this little guitar worked all night and did not complain a bit. You have to love outdoor gigs this time of year. Dave if you want to chat send me an email with your phone number would be glad to talk to you about the guitar.

Charlie - How's the stability on the Blackjack? I was wondering if it's heavy enough to sit still. I've reviewed the Jackson web site and the specs on the Blackjack thoroughly, and I like what I see - a lot. The looks of the Blackjack reminds me of my round-front Sho-Bud Pro I that I had many years ago. The price is great too, and getting one with 5 knees and a case is something like $1750. Not bad at all. Also, is the finish mica or laquered wood?

Thanks,

Ken

Ken I have done about 5 gigs with this little guitar now and as far as moving around I have had no problems at all. The knee lever pressures that you need is so little that you really have to be careful and get your leg/knee back to the rest position or you will find you are startng to raise/lower that string. I love the sound of the Blackjack and it also holds tune very well. The cabinet is a formica and I have had a lot of comments about how good the guitar looks and then when you tell them the price they can't believe that it was so little and yet so smooth playing and great looking as well. Is it a commerative no but it is also less than half the money. Two totally different guitars but both of them are great IMHO. So in closing I think for the money this is a hard guitar to beat, David and the crew have done thier home work on this one.

Thanks for the info Charlie. I've read every thread where the Blackjack is mentioned, and I have not seen anything negative at all. One thing for sure, this is NOT a modern day "Maverick", it's like a modernized Sho-Bud Pro I. Even with the additional cost of a case and 4 standard knee levers, this guitar still has a great price. Looks like there's a lengthy wait for these guitars too. I hope they shorten up the production time.

Question - How many raises and lowers are available? I didn't see that mentioned at the Jackson web site.

BTW - I love checking the Jackson web site - the tune played by Jeff Bradshaw is excellent.
