The are great looking guitars but I can't find anything on youtube with him playing one. Anybody have one? How do they sound?

That model was built by Gibson, and is essentially a later ES-150 with a differently shaped body. Since the back is glued on, I assume it has the version of the Charlie Christian pickup with a horseshoe magnet.

This is as close as I can find on You Tube. The guitar is the Gibson Roy Smeck Special and not the Recording King. I've never found a film or photo of Roy actually playing a Recording King, although they came out of the Gibson factory, and there were Smeck flattops and archtops as well. (There is also a performance extant of "Bugle Call Rag" on the same guitar, but I can't find it. Might have to upload my own copy ...)
