| I have a single 12 and am using a humbucking pickup. A couple of years ago I had the same setup and my sound started to get really brite and harsh. I switched pickups at that time (with the same brand name) and everything went back to normal. Nice mellow sound. I'm now experiencing the same problem again. Wondering if the pickups are going bad or might there be another reason for this. Appreciate any help you can give me. Sincerely Nigel |

Seems likely, but coincidental that it would occur again. If it's a same brand and era pickup, maybe it's a common flaw in the construction?
I had a 12 string pickup go bad shortly after buying a guitar (new in 1976). But, mine had a loose winding and created a sensitive low mid feedback with certain notes.
