First of all Dave, thanks for a great set at the ISGC !
In the thread about performing solo you mentioned having used the Boss Loop Station pedal.
I have a question about the ergonomics of using one with the pedal steel. Standard guitar with both feet free to operate it, OK. But PSG... Where do you place it ? Any tips ? Do you make loops beforehand or just during the performance ?

Thanks ,

Ollie

David is a regular at our Deep South Steel shows here on the Mississippi Coast. His playing captures everyone immediately. His performance with his touring trio brought our house down at our last event this summer. I was thrilled to see him in St. Louis receiving all the recognition a great talent deserves. Can't wait to see and hear him on the big stage in St. Louis too. David stays so busy but finds the time to share with us when in his home town area in southern Louisiana - a most gracious and humble man. We are so proud of David Easley.

Hey, Olli, it was great seeing you in St. Louis. To tell you the truth. I put it right behind the 3 E 9th pedals. I find I like the C6th better for solo gigs anyway. There's another unit called a Boomerang which seems to be more versatile than the Boss Loop Station but it is much larger and with pedal steel it seems there's barely room for the Boss unit which is about the size of two stomp boxes. If I really want to play the E 9th with the looper I can back the looper up right next to the back left leg of the steel and still reach it fairly easily.

I do all the loops live on stage. I find that works better for dynamics and also you can decide what songs to play based on what you feel like at the moment, what the crowd seems to respond to etc. I tried doing them at home before and they came out too loud on the gig.
