Was listening to classic country and heard several records of Jimmy Logsdon. It was on the Bear Family label. Each record had the same Steel player. He was very good and I was wondering if anyone could tell me his name. Jack |

Didn't Jimmy used to be a DJ on WCKY Cincinnatti? |

Yeah, he was on WCKY in the early 60s, and a lot of other stations before and after.
The steel player was either Clyde Coffey, Don Helms, or Bob Foster, depending on what song you heard. Coffey was his a member of Logsdon's band for a long time. Foster and Helms were used most of the time in Nashville.
Tasty stuff.

Thx for the info. I didn't know that Don Helms played with Jimmy even if it was in the studio. On the records I heard the steeler was the intro and had a nice ride om the break.,I guess that is what i miss most with most of the so-called country today. Very little steel work on most of the recordings today. Jack |
