S-12 Single 12-string, 7 Pedals & 5 Knee Levers $ 2,495.00
It seems this is a very good price for a new guitar, don't you think ?
I'm in the market for a 12 string. What are your thoughts on the Carter Products ? Please share your positive and negative comments. Here-say is acceptable.

I have 2 black ones and like them fine. One with a GL pickup and one with the XR-16. I bought them used and rerodded them both so the E-Eb is RKR (that way I can still play a D-10 Sho-Bud style.) The light weight is a plus. _________________ Dave O'Brien

They build a great guitar at CARTER. The Magnum is also a great guitar that'll really surprise some folks. |

I have a Carter 12 string since 95 and it is still working fine. For the money I don't think you can beat them. |

Thanks for responding. Carter seems to beat all the others in price. _________________ Sho-Bud D10 Super Pro 8/6. Peavey Session 500 Black Widowed |

I sold mine because the TaxMan had my number. I had the wallace TT in mine and it was so perfect! The tuning (Newman's) is easy to grasp. I'll have another one, soon!!!!! YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY IN ANY WAY, provided you purchase one!MHO _________________ RICK ABBOTT

I have had my Carter S-12 (black for the tone) since April 2006 and have not had a single problem with it. I haven't even broken a string on it in the last six months.
The fast transition from typical E9th to the B6th sounds becomes second nature after a while and you wonder how you could ever live without it.
My ongoing challenge is making fast and accurate floor pedal moves between those three pedals on the left for "Nashville" sounds to the ones on the right with my left knee remaining in position between LKL and LKR, since my preferred musical arrangements call for seamless integration of all the pedals.
With the universal, you are dancing on seven floor pedals and five knee levers and quite a few chords can be played in two or even three very different ways, depending on knee/floor pedal combos.
Sustain is excellent, even in the higher registers where it is very noticeable since you normally don't expect so much of it there, so bct might be contributing here.
Good luck with that Carter and let us know how you are doing with it. |

Ken, that "IS" a great price, and believe me they are "GREAT" guitars. Had my S-12 universal since 2003 and I got her as a used guitar. Guy bought it in 2000, and he was a non player, and to take on a full blown universal was just too much for him to handle, so I won out in the end on a good deal. I just replaced the pickup for a Wallace TT. It is so good to play, tone to the bone as they say, and as good mechanically as you'd ever hope for.
