Interesting. I bet the bananna plug cord is supposed to connect to an outboard control box for volume, tone etc.

Nice find Fred. Take into consideration the cost of carriage about £35-45 and then customs put vat on the TOTAL..i.e. cost + carriage x 17.5%
So it's total plus at LEAST £60 is a realistic estimate.

The reason the plug goes into the cover is that the pickup on those is hovering over the strings, attached to the cover. They are extremely thin sounding and you can hardly pick the strings or they contact the pickup surface and make unpleasant noise. I checked out a Framus lap steel locally with that setup and it was awful. It looked exactly like that one, BTW. Buy an artisan, it'll be a better guitar.

Fred, I owned one like this a couple of years ago, although mine was a much plainer-looking instrument. My thoughts were: the sliding pickup gives a lot of tonal variation (it made me realise just how important the position of the pickup is for tone), but it was often just where your right hand would want to pick! So I had my pickup fitted into the body under the strings, like any other guitar, but this of course fixed the tone to one setting - which sounded fine. I found the string-spacing very close, which became a problem when I discovered bar-slants. I eventually sold it on. Interesting guitar,though....
