Yes, it was a kit and I still have mine. I paid $150.00 in 1979. It still works, but there are plastic holders for the legs, and two of them are cracked from age and just cheap plastic. At the time it was what I could afford. No way at that price now adays, especially when a Carter Starter can be had for a little more. (Full disclosure: I own a Carter S-12U and love it)

I remember seeing those kits advertised in Guitar Player magazine, back in the 1970's.

I saw that same one the other day... I'd have to add more levers, but it was tempting.

The case is probably worth as much as the guitar. These were "bare-bones" student models with practically nothing to recommend them but the price. Sad

Fortunatley for me, only one of those 'junkers' ever pass through my shop, I think that was back in the early 90's. It was just a horrible guitar, you could not keep a 3rd string on it. I got lucky & sold it, the poor guy that bought it has since passed away, probably caused by trying to make that guitar work!! Its probably been converted into a lamp by now, & it probably won't come on!!

I saw one of these a few years ago, and it was very cheaply made. These were kits, so the owner had to assemble the guitar. I think the body came unfinished too. The one I saw was thrown together very sloppy. The parts didn't line up properly, and the finish was poorly done.

Oh Well Yep! that was my first PSG.Kit,You HAD to be at least average with mechcanical knowledge and aware of how a PSG was supposed to work.Very cheap parts and poor design.Mine probably turned out better than most but was still junk.Would not stay in tune. But it at least got me started.I gave it to a guy that I didn't like. Alan, what do you mean, not everything is collectible?

There is a vacant lot down the alley where the neighborhood collects all sorts of things, until the city truck comes along and hauls it all to the dump for us!

I guess you're right, Lee. In a society where there are enthusiastic collectors of jam jar labels, matchboxes, bottle tops, and even dinosaur poop, we should be glad of the diversity, that not everyone is collecting the same things. Shocked
