I recently acquired an early Zum guitar. The guitar came with a L 910 in the front neck. While the guitar sounds incredible I am looking to replace the pickup with something less in your face than the 910. I tried lowering the position of the pickup but it is still to hot for me personally. I have had good luck in the past with both the GL E66 and the 10-1 in other guitars and I am wondering what others have experienced with theses pickups in a Zum. I have been told that GL EON pickups can sound good in a Zum also. Any opinions or thoughts appreciated.

Thanks,

Leo G

If you think a 910 is bright, I don’t think you’ll like an E66. I have a 10-1 in my S10 Zum. It’s pretty good. I think Bruce usually reccomends Truetones. I have an Emmons 19k single coil in my PP S10 & really like it. I have another I’m going to try in the S10 Zum soon. My Hybrid Sd 10 has a Truetone which I think is 17.5 & I like it also. I have never liked the brighter pickups like 710’s and E66’s. Just my personal opinion.

Thanks, Danny. I don't think the 910 is too bright at all , in fact I think it's on the darker side compared to the other BL pickups you mentioned. It's not the brightness that bothers me but the high output. The E66 has proved far too bright for me on some guitars but a great fit in others. I may start with the 10-1 since I already have one ready to go. I'm still open to some other thoughts or suggestions. I'm not interested in single coils.

Thanks

Leo

From previous experience I'm with Larry - BL710 works great or even better is the Telonics 409
