I have a squarefront sho-bud pro-I. When I try to adjust the intonation on the "A" pedal that pulls the B to a C# on the 6th string it's adjusting the pitch of the open string too... When I raise the pitch on the pedal it makes the open string sharp too. This just started happening yesterday. I have a gig tonight and no time to take it to a tech. Any idea what's going on with it? Please any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Justin, do this first.

check the space around the string fingers for anything that might be causing the fingers to interact when one is pulled.
Area should be relatively clean.
Try applying a little drop of light oil between the fingers from the top, Work it in useing the pedals & levers.
Check the return springs to see that they are not rubbing against the ones next to them
Back off the tuning and re set the tuning collar with a little slack before it engages. then retune.
OLD strings ? change them.
Hope this helps.

thanks for the tips. I'll give those ideas a go. Hopefully they'll help. I need to learn more about how these things work.

Justin, lubricate the rollers on the nut. Sounds like they are not rolling freely, and this will cause the string to return sharp. This is called string hysteresis and is common with keyed steel guitars.

The nylon collar may be threaded in too much. Sho
Bud had a sheet on this, and said the smaller string
would have to be pulled the most,so # 10 collar must
start in a much more backed off position before you
try to tune #5.

It may sound real dumb, but make sure you don't have a broken string stub down in the changer. Don't assume that when a string breaks the stub goes flying off the guitar. I've seen Sho-Bud's get so bound up they wouldn't play. I once picked 17 broken stubs out of a guy's D-10. . .all on the E9 neck!!!

I'd clean it and lube it. But also check the over tightened hex tuner...
