Is a place where I can get a stand (holder) for a Gibson BR6 lapper.
Thanks in advance.

There has been one on eBay this past week!

If you hurry, you might be able to get in on the bidding.

The buy-it-now price isn't too bad. I've seen them go for almost twice that much.

Considering the outrageous prices these stands fetch on ebay, i imagine they're not made anymore
is that correct ?
if so, why don't somebody make new ones & sell'em ?
he'd do well would'nt he ?

If you want a less expensive and sturdier alternative, I use a projector stand (about $70) with a foam rubber pad on it. The legs are adjustable, the pad holds the guitar in place, there is plenty of room under it for effects and volume pedal, and it is very light and portable. If you want it for collecting purposes then go for the vintage piece- there aren't a lot of them around.

I bought a stand just like it some time ago.
The stand is very wobbly and that's how I dropped my Rickenbacher BD6. Luckily the damage was not that great after it fell 4 feet from the stage. I end up using the the top half and using the bottom of a sturdy gretsch cymbal stand. The top half fits right into the cymbal stand. Let me know if you people wants to see a picture of it.

I am having great luck with two different stands, a tall keyboard X-stand and my MSA Freedom stand...

...the Freedom stand is great for single neck laps, & the X-stand is good for any single neck & my Stringmaster Double neck...

Anyone have any experiance with the Morrell stand from Musician's Friend? How long have these been out? If it's a new product this could possibly be evidence that lap steel is continueing a slow crawl from its primordial status.
This looks to be a good solution for folks that want a stand but don't want to install sockets or adapters on an otherwise stock lap steel.

A few years ago I thought about building stands like the old ones, but with material costs and even with cheap labor(me) they would be expensive. Material would cost even more at todays prices.

Check your Camera Shops, Photo Studios and Pawn Shops for a heavy duty Camera Tripod. I use a Tripod that was used with a 4X5 Press Camera and mounted a 3/8" plywood plate on it covered with siick on Felt from Wal-Mart and the Felt on the back of my Morrell 8 Pro sticks to it almost like Vel-Cro. The legs are adjustable and the plate swings and tilts if needed. James

The keyboard stand that I use is a Proel brand & stands about 41 inches folded...I looked around for one that tall because a lot of the stands are only around 36 inches folded, not tall enough for me. After reading this thread I started looking on ebay & found another stand for around $25...i went ahead & bought it for a back up...not a bad price for a heavy duty X-stand...Terry V.

I used a keboard stand but did not like the way the guitar rested on it. I cut a pice of plywood to fit and put the no skid shlef liners like you use in a motor home on both sides. Very stable, no slippin' and slidin'. Total cost of about 65 dollars.

The X stands are definitely sturdy, the only problem I had with them is the limited space under them for volume pedal and effects. Otherwise they are a great alternative.

The top half is an Oahu stand without the sheet music stand. The bottom is a sturdy Gretsch cymbal stand.
It works great with any single neck steel guitar.
I did not have to make any modification.
