Am I doing this right???

guitar to the front input on profex then output on back of profex to input on pedal, then output from pedal to amp.

This way I can hear alot of amp hiss

or should it be

guitar to input on pedal then output on pedal to front input of profex then output of profex to amp

??????????

Give this a try:

For steel > pedal > Profex II > amp input, the Profex II rear volume control is set at about 3 to 4
Set the input volume control so the input overload indicator (by the volume pot on the front panel) only blinks green on occasion while playing the guitar. If the input clips (light starts to turn red) from the guitar signal, the output of the amp will have a nasty buzzing distortion.

NOTE:
The Profex II is designed as a preamp and signal processor, so the signal is much “hotter” then a steel or guitar pickup. Try the #2 (padded) input jack of the Nashville amp for the above procedure. You will more flexibility with amp’s input volume knob.
An alternate is to use two cables, from the left and right output of the Profex 2 into the #1 and #2 jacks on the front of the guitar amp.

Jamie, you probably already know this but you can hook your Profex up to the power amp input on some amps. It bypasses all the settings on the front of your amp and just uses the amp part of your amp. Your amp may not have a power amp input on it tho. It does cut out all the hiss and noise tho. Just a suggestion. Ray

Very Happy Jamie, I just happen to use a ProFex II and two Peavey amps. Here is how I hook up. Guitar>Hilton Pedal>Sabine Tuner>to the front of the ProFex II>out the back of the ProFex II> into the 3rd hole over on the "back" side of the Peavey Amps. I turn the signal volume control on the back of the ProFex II wide open. The signal volume control on the front of the ProFex II now controls the overall volume of the amps. I usually set this front volume around 9:00 o'clock to start off, then adjust to what I need. With this hookup, the control knobs on the amps do nothing. You are only using the amps as power heads to power speakers. All signal conditioning with this method is done in the ProFexII. There might be a better way, but this is the way I always hook up. Hope this information helps.
