Those are good reso's for the dough. You can do some easy fixs to upgrade such as a Quarterman cone, and level the spider. If the price is right it is a fine entry level reso...

I've played my Beard upgraded Flinthill for about 5 years now, and I love it! It sounds (in my opinion) as good or better than alot of instruments costing 6 times as much. Paul set it up with a Quarterman cone, bone nut, better spider and a MacIntire pickup.

How much can I expect to spend for a quarterman upgrade, bone bridges, and a new spider? Thanks for the info!

The going rate from most of the specialty dobro luthiers for the upgrade/setup package is around $200. Then there's shipping.

Or you can buy the parts from Paul Beard's Resophonic Outfitters or Stewart MacDonald and save some money-but the good dobro luthiers really know how to dial it in and get the guitar tweaked just right.

Seeing that you're a Texan (I work in the wholesale rose business in California, so I know about Tyler, the Texas rose capital) you may want to contact Carroll Benoit, the outstanding luthier.

He is in Mauriceville, and I have no clue where that is in relation to Tyler. I also have no clue if he does reso guitar "retrofits," but it would be worth a shot and it would be a much shorter trip for your guitar than sending it to a company like Beard in Maryland.
