We are just two weeks away from one of the best learning experiences in a steel player's life. Doug will be in Port Townsend Washington, conducting a 5-hour seminar on Friday, August 24th at 2:00 PM at New Life Church in Port Townsend Washington . . . . Bill Wolfe and Bud Brewer are hosting the event and are offering the seminar to steelers for $50.00.
Contact Bill Wolfe for further info. . . . 360-302-0046
and send your registration right away to
Pastor Bill Wolfe, 95 W. Market,
Port Hadlock Washington. . . 98339
Doug is in town for the weekend and invites all steelers and families to come and enjoy. Doug will be teaching the seminar on Friday and then playing at the 1st Annual Country Festival in Port Townsend from 12:00 to 2:00 PM on Saturday. .( free to all ) . . make your plans immediately to come for the seminar and possibly stay the weekend in beautiful Port Townsend.
A note from Bill Wolfe
I will set up the room so that everyone is facing Doug who will be up on a platform. . . .each person will be provided with a music stand for doug's syllabus and we will provide a powerstrip to plug in amp/tuner etc.. We are going to treat our steelers well. . . . a refreshment table will be set up during the hours of the seminar for breaks - a crew will be on hand to help unload and load equipment. . . dinner is provided by the ladies . . . etc. We hope to make this a yearly event and a blessing to all steel guitar players.

Hi Bill. Looking forward to the seminar. unfortunately, I can't stay for the weekend. I have other commitments for Sat & Sun. Do you think I should bring my amp, or can I get by with my CD player and headphones? Thanks again! _________________ Stew |

Just a quick post to publicly thank Bill Wolf and his crew for a fantastic seminar with Doug! A dozen steelers were treated to a whole day of close up instruction with something for everyone from basic grips to speed picking and forward rolls. I’ve got a lot of work to do going thru the thick book of Doug’s tabs full of scales, complete with fingering notations showing crossovers, etc. Whew! Lots of material and even a nice overview of C6 chord construction and single note scale pockets.
The setting was beautiful and the facilities and people at the New Life Church were just great. The early birds had a little extra time with Doug at a pre-semiar lunch, as well. Good to meet fellow steelers and to see, up close, a wide range of guitars from a sparkling, new MSA Magnum (wow!) to mellow, vintage ShoBuds (mmmm!).
Thanks, Bill, and all, for a teriffic day! |

Bob has expressed my sentiments, as well. I enjoyed so much meeting all of my new pedal-playing buddies. Doug's modesty and down-to-earth demeanor made me feel more than welcome, though I still reverted to stiff fingers each time he came to check on me, Lordy, Lordy. Thanks, Doug (I learned a LOT), and thanks to Pastor Bill, Bob Hickish, and Bud Brewer for allowing us to share in this rare gathering. And Bob K. -- thanks, again, for driving and the nice conversation during our ride to and from. _________________ Al
