Though I love our flag, not just for what it stands for but because I think the design is beautiful and very classy-in my opinion-and this is not a criticism of anyone else that enjoys this sort of thing-but I always think when the flag is "taken out of context" and used to decorate musical instruments, vehicles, bandannas for middle-aged balding bikers, etc.-I think there is something a little bit cheesey about it.
That said-the artwork on that SuperSlide is one of the better attempts I have ever seen as far as patriotically decorating an instrument goes.

Mark I have to agree with you but flag or not these things are beautiful. I like the funny 'acoustic' reference in their shape even though I doubt there is no functional reason for it....just a warm fuzzy feeling that it is a "hawaiian" guitar with a nice feminine shape. On the other extreme I also like the 'road warrior' aesthetic of the Industrial steels http://www.industrialguitar.com/mp3linx.html
since the form has virtually nothing to do with function and is purely decorative.....more of a literally "steel" guitar. |

Wow! They sure are NICE! The MSA SUPER SLIDES are really something special! Just ask anyone who owns one or, has played one!
As far as the Flag goes: I am not a big fan of putting the flag on inst. or clothing or
such but, as long as it is done with RESPECT, as I KNOW it has in this case I dont think there is anything wrong with it.
Although like Mark Eaton, I am not a big fan of useing the flag in this way...But,
if you try and burn one in front of me.....be prepared to get the ....beat out of you and your friends, he, he, he!These are GREAT steels. But what else would you expect from Mr. Anderson? |

The SuperSlide itself, now William-that's a whole other kettle of fish!
There is about a 90% plus chance that this is going to be my next musical instrument purchase. This is one of the most impressively designed and engineered new guitars-in any category.
I have the SuperSlide-Off DVD and I'm stashing some bucks aside before I place my order. I can't decide at this point if I should jump off the deep end money-wise and order a double-8, or jump off the deep end music theory-wise and order the single neck 12!

Herman:
1. I found out the Sonoma show at Little Switzerland will be Sat., Oct. 15-The Saddle Cats
2. When are you getting your SuperSlide?
Bobby plays that 12 string from West Coast Steel Guitar so beautifully, I can't wait to hear him on the SuperSlide for comparison. Is that what he got, a 12-string?
Is there a classier guy on the planet than Bobby Black?

Did anyone click on the link and see Kirby Kelly playing a lap steel like a resonnator guitar, standing with arm wound in strap?
Didn't think anyone did that! Everyone else seems to stand and play their instrument on a stand.
Did seem a bit awkward! |

I saw Rob Ickes doing just that on Jay Leno recently on his Scheerhorn acoustic/electric lap steel, backing country singer Jon Randall.
The Scheerhorn has a pretty thin, lap steel-like body-but with a resonator.
Have you checked out the SuperSlide website where they describe if memory serves, the "Freedom Bar" to help your standup playing?

The stand they sell for it works great!
I think the artwork on the Patriot model is a great way to show patriotism. Really pretty and on my hoho list.

As a Marine vet, I guess the American flag design is alright.
But I really do like all the others alot. It's just that the price tag keeps this old dog on his '51 Fender T8! |

I have been told by the wife to never touch one! I must stay as far away as possible and not attend any shows where these demon possesed steels are played. She knows that if I ever get even close to one it will be mine!!!
BEWARE OF THE SUPERSLIDE!
