OK........ I have a few dings, and scratches, ect. on my ShoBud "Professional" model D10. I really can't afford to have it re-conditioned, and don't know if I really would anyway. Someone told me that if I go to the finger-nail polish dept. of WalMart or Target and find a polish that preaty much matches the color of my steel, I could do a cover-up or fill. Soooooooooo Whats up with that. The dings ect. are on the back side for the most part. Jack<><

Every ding tells a story, adds character.

I'd learn to love them... ,

well at least appreciate them.

It may be worth a shot, but I can tell you from experience that repairs to lacquer finishes are best left to professionals. Specific leveling tools and procedures are necessary to blend the repair so that it looks natural.

If you plan to attempt it, best to get all the information you can before starting. The waxes and polishes all have to be removed from the area. Guitar supply houses like Stewart MacDonald can supply small lacquer sticks in colors or in clear. Small dings can be filled with a toothpick and some clear lacquer, maybe the colored nail polish, but it's a tricky procedure. Many times the repairs look worse than the dings. Laughing

Practice on a lacquer finish of an object you don't mind marring first if you can to see how the stuff behaves. JMO.

I think it would hurt the value of the guitar and besides those little ole dings are not bothering anything. putting fingernail polish on that guitar is like an old lady wareing a miniskirt trying to look young. Besides those little dings tell a story don,t you know..... don,t you dare mess that great guitar up Mad Mad Smile Very Happy

I was talking with Gary Carpenter a few weeks ago & Gary told me a way of fixing dings Etc.

Gary said to clean the area of the ding well with a cotton swab, then use Super Glue, (jell form)to carefully fill the ding,, the super glue will self level,,so DONT ! fill above ding !

Gary said he has done this & its almost impossible to see the ding afterwards. Its like a clear glass filler that matches the color below. Smile
