I've got a 54' Champion not a champ but mine looks like it had some kinda backing on it at one time and simply wore off but this one is so shiny on the back. Good question.

The Champion models had felt on the backs. The Champ models didn't.
That's an exceptionally clean pair; anybody want to guess how much they'll go for?

I suspect the scratched-in Social Security number may offset the "$500" hang tag ... |

The amp is probably a good chunk of the selling price. Victoria is gettin @ $800 for their reissue of that amp. |

Why did all of the older steel guitars come with a dobro style bar? I have dobro style bar that has "Fender StringMaster" stamped into it. The stamp impression is hard chromed over so it is an original stamp.

That dobro style bar was for the player to choose to have a wider or narrow string spacing.Back then they were offered at an option at no extra charge. |

For you guys in the know, how authentic is E-bays - "private listing - bidders' identities protected"
Without information this could be a little hokey pokey? Or is it just the way it is done?
If I were a potential purchaser, would I have a reason to be paranoid?
Just searching for the truth.

I'm actually not all that blown away by the price. When you consider the whole package-and except for some dings on the case and the guy's SS# etched in-the collection looks like it was tucked away into a time capsule for almost 50 years.
For a collector something this clean doesn't come along but about once every 10 years.
It looks like the original owner gave learning the thing a token shot then gave up on it and it spent an awful long time in a closet, never to come out again 'til now.
