I started about 25 years ago, however I sold my steels and didnt play at all for about 12 years. More recently my Mullen HWP gathered dust for another year before I took it out, cleaned it up and traded it in for a new G2. I also bought 2 P/P's, A D10 8+6 fatback, and a D12 8+6...At the moment im in steel mode again and practicing every day. I plan on retiring from the aviation business in another 10 years and playing just for the fun of it....Thanks for asking....

Mickey, you sound great!! And the Mullen looks great also. I'll post a comment on your video..I am Senmo on YouTube...
Also, the more I look at the Mullen, the more I like it! As a matter of fact I have a pic of the undercarriage hanging up in my shop as I am building my steel.
Keep'em coming Mickey!

From watching your clips on you-tube I think you need to start your own line of instructional material. If I can watch a video such as yours showing fret movements I can pick up on a tune quicker that way.

I agree with you Ricky..Staring at tablature and having to decipher each movement for me can be very difficult. I have better results actually watching someone play as you suggested. Im going to use a split screen as well so the pedals can be visible in future videos. Thanks for watching I appreciate your input very much....Mickey
PS> its a BJS 12 string bar im playing....

If your not playing steel in a band right now, you need to be. Your clips prove that....Ricky

David, I agree with you: All steelers should subscribe to Mickey's postings on YouTube!
Mickey, this as absolutely the best I have heard in a long time. It must take up a great deal of your time to do these postings and all I can say is thank you and keep them coming.
Do you play in a band?
Do you record?
Do you teach?
I hope you can answer yes to #3 because you have obvious teacher qualities

I am really floored at the number of hits I have gotten just today on my video clips. I have had so many great comments from people all over the world, not to mention the personal emails...Thank you all so very much....As for the playing in a band, my flight schedule is sometimes very hectic. Here in Vegas you only need to cancel 1 or 2 gigs at the last minute and the phone goes silent. I have a recording studio in my home. My studio work is limited to ProTools files sent to me from several recording studios. I merely record multiple takes with varying solos and submit them with DigiDelivery for them to edit...So far...Ive never had one come back to re-record (fingers crossed)...as for the teaching, Ive never considered myself to be technically that advanced a player. However the fact is that we ALL do things a little differently, and thats the beauty of music, and individuality....We are all unique....Thanks again to all of you for the comps..I cant tell you how much they mean to me...
Ill be posting videos as the time allows...More to come fer sure....Mickey

I viewed a few of your clips last night. They are well done, sound clean, excellent close-ups, and you explain clearly. NOW that I see how UNsimple this device is I know I would never have the time to learn it. I'll just stick to song writing, and lame bass and guitar picking. But I'll still enjoy hearing others play and I have about 20 steel CDs/tapes I have bought directly or indirectly through this forum.

Mickey...sounds fantastic! Great technique and tone and that new Mullen sounds terrific! Especially enjoyed and got a lot out of your single note finger exercise. Hope you come up with some more of those as it really helps! They are all great though. Thanks for your efforts...it's appreciated.
