Several. Is there a specific type of bar you're looking for?

Bud,
I use a bar Jim Burden made for me.
It is stainless 3 3/16" X 3/4".
Had it for a couple of years and like it very much.
Brad has a link for Jim, but here it is again:

I'd have to say it's whatever fits your hand and style best. I was teaching this little old Vietnamese gal, and she used a little tiny light-weight bullet bar cause it fit her hand.
I didn't know this, but the steel guitar is regulary used for Vietnamese tunes. How and why I don't know. I live near Garden Grove, CA which is known as Little Siagon.
I've found that there's a bit of a "line drawn in the sand" as it were over using a bullet bar or a S&P (Pierce) bar with groves in the top and side.
Some folks say only a bullet bar it in line with playing steel. Personnaly, I've tried both, and I prefer the S&P bar, as I do a lot of bar lifting with my single note picking.
To each is own me thinks.

Bud,
I use a Dunlop "JB" bar. It's 2-3/4" x 3/4" and is perfect for six-string, or even 8-string steel. I also sometimes use their bar that's 3"x3/4", too. The best part is they're less than $20 each.
BTW, do you play with anyone down in Bradenton? I'm up in Safety Harbor.

Is Jim Burden operational?
About two months ago I ordered a couple of bars and he returned my money order stating that his machine was broken. He didn't know when he would be back up. He didn't sound too optimistic and I haven't heard since.
He makes a good bar. Hope this is temporary. |

I wrote to Jim Burden in August. Here's what he said, "I am not building anything till I can get my new, used ,lathe set up and running right. Hopefully by early fall." There you have it. |

Good to hear Jim. You made me the best bar I've ever owned, and I've owned a few (Dunlop, BJS, Red Rajah, Brozophonic). Keep making those fine steel bars! |
