Nice article on Porter Wagner. For all the complaining I hear about the Grand Old Opry, it seems they were the only ones that gave him any kind of career at all. But it was the White Strips that really gave him his shot:

Seems the White Stripes have pretty big appreciation
of LIVING roots music.

Very cool.

Gotta get me a copy of Wagonmaster.
Who's on steel on it?

When I did get to the Opry a few years back
Porter Was there and sang a nice number.
It really was like a time capsule of country.

Wagonmaster is the best/favorite album I've bought all year.

Hot band no doubt.
Marty is no slouch on a few instruments,
so I am sure his sidemen pick a storm.

I have seen Stuart Duncan several times with NBGB
and he is always great, one of my favorite players
for sure.

David,
You should hear Stuart on this CD, he completely nails the Mack Magaha vibe on a few of the tunes. Every now and then I start to wounder if Stuart was dancing around like Mack did when he played.
