And as the description says:
"This is used but it appears complete and the person purchased it from says it plays OK. I suspect it needs to be restrung."

Bet it sounds like a snare drum when picked hard. I know for a fact that this is how Jerry Byrd strung his guitars. |

I remember posting a pic of a Supro that was stringed through the holes in the pickup's coverplate,- is that the one you're thinking of George?

I had a Fender Kingman, the kind that had adjustable bridge pieces. I took them out and put a baby humbucker in the slot, and let the strings bear on the slotted screw heads. It was hotter than hades. Not much harmonic quality though, unless you like just the high ones. |

it's eBay #7350852950 - a Valco made Gretsch Electromatic
Steinar, could this be the same one you posted last year or is this a disturbing trend?
Or do these guys know something we don't?? [This message was edited by Rick Alexander on 18 September 2005 at 10:09 PM.] |

Rick, that is so wierd, unless an overcompensated bridge was the idea.
Or a sitar.[This message was edited by Charlie McDonald on 19 September 2005 at 04:22 AM.] |

There are some people who just shouldn't be allowed anywhere near an instrument. |

Looks to me like the tone from that Ric would be " over the top" ........Jim |
