Anyone have any reports/reviews of what nonpedal vendors were showing a Scotty's? Got pics or stories of what you liked?
Thanks,
DD

Here's a funny story which may shine a light on how big Fender has gotten and the corporate knowledge that's been lost.

At Scotty's last week I visited the Fender demo room. I asked the Fender rep about the rumor that was circulating about a Fender reissue of the Stringmaster.

He said no, it's not true. He said Fender is reissuing a double 8 non-pedal steel, but not the Stringmaster. He then pointed to a picture of a Stringmaster and said "this is what we are reissuing".

I'm glad to see Fender has some real top-notched reps. Where do they get these people?

Did they have a slew of Superslides in the MSA room?

The MSA room was about 50% SuperSlides in all string configurations and colors. They had a bunch set up with amplifiers and headphones for anyone to try them out.

The only other non-pedal vendors were Beard Guitars (resos) and West Coast Steel. That's about it.

Scotty's is pedal steel territory.

No, No guys, you are on the wrong track.

You have heard the saying, "Give a guy enough rope to hang himself".

Well Howard is a creative, non-convention kind of guy. The saying goes something like this, "I am giving you guys enough hangers to hang me."

Just kidding now Howard.

By the way, I always enjoy your sense of humor. Now you can see how distorted mine is.

Aloha,
Don

Not true Don, I'll be at the HSGC next month!

Now that's non pedal territory......no, that's non pedal heaven. The music that comes out of those steels is also heavenly.

Dana, you'll have to wait a month for a more comprehensive gear report...

So, Howard, do I smell a new SS in you future? Perhaps with 15 strings, a neon green finish, complete with matching hat?

That's good news; we will all have a blast.

I think that heavenly tones are unlikely from my steel, Howard.

Maybe earthy tones at best.

Don
