I currently have a mid 1990’s excel 12 with narrow string spacing .320 each or 3.430” out to out on all 12 strings. I find it difficult to play compared to the spacing on my Fender tele which is .415 each.

OK, I'm sure you think I am nuts with the narrow string spacing.

I have been told by my instructor that Excel model that I have is the narrowest string spacing around.

I recently went to KC to look a 12 string midi pickup built for a Zum by Chuck Abend and he was shocked that his six strings were the same width as 7 of mine.

Humor me and measure the distance from string 1 to 12. You will find it wider than 3.430”

David: I agree 100% that the excel has closer string spacing than the sierra, probably the bmi would come real close to the excel. fact is the reason i am selling this guitar is to buy another sierra 14 string.....thanks jack

Guys,
This is an awesome little steel. If I had the money I would have already bought this back. This little universal plays awesome and has a great tone. This is a great addition to any family.
