Topic: Teachers in Boston? |

I notice there are bunch of people from the New England area posting here and I'm looking for a teacher. I'm a total beginner on the steel and have logged only about 4 hours or so on my Supro since its arrival on Monday afternoon. My intonation and vibrato are horrendous and, while I realize I'm just beginning, as an experienced regular guitarist, it's pretty easy to get discouraged when I play along with Jackson Browne recordings.
So, before I get really bummed out about my playing, I'd like to find a teacher who can give me things to work on. I need to see progress and have some exercises to do instead of simply noodling.
I found John McGann's site and he's available for lessons, but his window of available times is severely limited. Does anyone know of any other teachers in the Boston area?

| Contact Mike Ihde , he teaches steel at Berkley School of Music in Boston, he's on the Forum , look up Alvino Rey posting under non pedal steels for his web E-mail address. Can't do any better than Mike !! He teaches everything from 6 string beginners to advanced pedal !!Eddie "C" ( the old geezer ) |

*cough* Berklee. Berkley is in California. I still owe them money how could i forget the spelling? lol |

had Mike for country guitar. Great guy, hard ass teacher which means makes you good! |

I learned A LOT by hard ass I should clarify i mean demanding and lots of expectation from a student.as in hard *emphasis* or damn hard! You know us kids and our slang lol (kid, i turn 34 this year kid is gone for me)
I actually thought you were one of the nicest teachers I had. If I had been in to steel then i would have definitely asked for lessons. I saw them in your office and they looked quite alien to me back then lol |
