The manual says that they can be found on the Peterson website, but no dice.

Has anyone had any luck finding C6 or Open E presets?

Well, as usual, I can answer my own question, partially. The forum link on the peterson page leads to an "under construction" message. But, I found the forum through google, go figure.

I found some of the presets, but no 6-sring Open E or 8-string C6.

James, I went thru the same fruitless search.

So here's what I did.

Look at the Just Major description on p.21 in the Owner's Manual. Then check out the offsets you get when you use JM (Just Major) on p.35. Most lap steel players tune their guitars using just intonation. I'll assume you want to do that.

But notice that the tuning offset for the stored JM is centered around the A note. Fine if you're using an A tuning. If so, you're set to go straight to the Just Major StroboFlip setting to tune your guitar.

But if you're using an E or C tuning (like I do), you need to read the section on Temperament Base Note on p.16. If you have an E tuning, change the base note to E and you'll have the notes offset automatically for the notes in your E tuning. (similarly for a C tuning) Store the change and you're set to use the Just Major StroboFlip setting to tune your lap steel.

I'll assume you know about steel tuning temperaments and offsets. If not there are plenty (read Huge Numbers) of posts on tuning and temperaments.

Hope this helps and good luck.

I'd never just use some canned preset because each guitar and tuning is gonna be different enough to throw it off. What you wanna do actually is tune the guitar root notes to a tuner and the thirds, fifths and extensions by ear till it's perfectly in tune. Then write down all the offsets that are unique to your guitar, your tuning and your ear. Then create a preset from scratch in the Peterson or alter an existing one till it conforms to your numbers - then name it and save it.
