I recently added the C to C# raise for the 3rd string on my C6 tuning. This thing looks like a keeper for me and if displaces another change I have always had on my guitar, but rarely used.
This will be a 4 part series of tab with audio file examples of some uses I have for this change.
First let's listen to what sort of scale this gives you with Pedal 8 also activated. Note that it's not necessary to use pedal 8 with this change if you just want to use the upper strings. During this run, you can hear me activate the C to C# change.

Here's a nifty little way to use this change. The fingerstyle part is not tabbed out but it shows the versatility of this pedal and also how pedal 8 is often not needed with it.

In some ways, this is like the E to F knee lever change on E9th as the following example shows. There are of course other ways to use the basic C6th pedal setup to get these notes. But this permits easy execution and provides a continuous flow on the high and clear strings.

In the following 3 postings, I will show how you can use this change to get the high "G" string sounds (they're BAAACCK!) and lots of nice western swing and chromatic type sounds and some new ways to play old chords.
My web site featuring over 160 tabs covering E9th, C6th, Split Tuning, pick blocking, palm blocking, speed licks, chords etc.

Hi Greg, Other than the normal C6 pedals, this change is the most important change on the guitar. I use this with pedal 8 and alone as you are saying. Keep up the good work. Larry |
