Too bad ya missed it!
I almost did too.

Derrick and the boy's did their usual 1st Friday gig in downtown Honolulu last night, only this time it included left hand steeler Ron Kanahele AND Ron Johnson duelling it out, with Johnson on an old Fender dbl. 8 that was the sweetest/mellowest Fender I've ever heard. Great complimentary playing on their parts.
Then the real fun began as Kanahele pulled a Hendrix on us, as he and Derrick traded places with RK taking Der's 12 str. Ovation and flipping over to play it left-handed and the heat rose a few more degrees, with Ron cranking the old Kamae songs with a ferver rarely seen these day's and getting the crowd all tore up. He really makes the old chestnuts come alive with his get down style of playing and singing.
Great stuff guy's, can't wait til next month!
