I enjoy going out and catching fellow forum member's concerts and gigs when I can.
A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of seeing the McCloskey clan in performance.
I suppose I could have posted this in music or steel players, but I think Bill is more known here, and more of a non pedal guy although he's dabbling in pedals also. But not at this gig.
Bill playing his Celtic Cross baratone Weiss. That thing has got some deep tone and is a beautifully made guitar. I think Bill has it tuned in A. I sat down with it (afterwards) and loved it. Bill played a composition that he wrote. Very nicely executed.....had I played it on stage, I would have been executed...  |

The concert took place at a church in NJ. When I go to gigs to see forum members, it's not important to me if the playing or the music is less than what it could be.
Well, not the case here. There was quite a variety of music, instruments, and musicians shuffling on and off the stage. Irish, bluegrass, jazz, country rock, vocal, instrumentals....totally kept my interest. Bill's wife Dee Dee sang a couple of songs, and sang them well. Bill's daughter Emily also took the stage for a song.

The toughest thing is just keeping up with my son's playing. Yesterday he learned the Miles Davis tune "Move" at lightening speed. And he expects me to keep up. A year ago he didn't know anything. Now I play him an Oscar Aleman version of Tico Tico and I ask him if he knows it. He talks to me like I'm the biggest idiot in the world: "Ah, yeah. It's a really famous song Dad. It's part of Jethro Burns repetroire." spoken of course like I'm moron.

All kids know more than parents, until they reach 26 years of age. Then reality sets in.  But keep on plunkin...
