| I am sure this has been discussed before but I was out of the room. Metal finger picks really hurt when I have played for a while. I was wondering if there is any way a plastic finger pick could be used with good results.Before bOb boots me off I am not interested in playing a b...O. My thumb pick being plastic is comfortable. Any suggestions? Jack "the wanna be" player but with a long ways to go. |

| Jack, You must be using the wrong picks or don't have them shaped correctly. Dunlop finger picks have a flange so the pick doesn't dig into the finger. They come in several gauges of thickness. The new Perfect Touch finger picks are selling quite well. It has a different design but they go up further on the fingers and there is a pick for the first finger and a different one for the 2nd finger. Scotty is correct. I had the same issue when I first started using metal fingerpicks. With help from the SGF members, I adjusted each pick correctly making all the difference. The curved picking end also needs to be shaped to your style and needs. After you get 'over the hump' you do not even know they are on your fingers. Until that happens however, hide the liquor as you may take to drinking and you won't be the first.......
I use the old standard NATIONALS. You can mark each one so you will know which finger it goes on. |

Jack, you could try this:
Just get those nosepads for glasses at the drugstore and line your picks.
They won't dig in and they won't slip.
