As always, Don played with great touch and emotion. And he's a legend and master of his instrument. He's 80 yrs old and still going strong. Amazing gentleman.
And Rob Parker is a requirement for any show. Great vocal and Atkins style on C6.
Terry Wood hosted and organized a great lineup of players. And his playing was great. The whole show was super.
I must also highlight staff musicians, Wayne Florang (drums) and Leon Lindsey (keyboards) on my set. I try to jump off the path with song selection and arrangement. These two guys got out on the limb with my sister and I and played great backup. Hopefully, we can do it again.
I'm terrible at remembering names (someone help me!) but, the girls that sang throughout the day were great also.
Thanks Terry! Well worth the trip.

Dennis, You are right! Terry Wood did a great job in getting together this tremendous Marshfield show! I was glad Rob Parker got to sing as much as he did. All the players did good in their particular style of playing. Scotty and his group were a tremendous asset to the day. You could tell that the players were confident with their instruments and knew what to do and did it! Phil Koontz and Tyler Hall played beautiful, melodic steel. Their touch was pure and sweet and Cliff Waterman played tremendously. It's a shame that more people didn't hear him. They are the losers. Cliff and Marilyn do a super job together. What's that quote?? "Behind every great man, there's a great woman." Larry Garrett got things started right and they went right all day. He's a great guy and runs a real good show and club in Siloam Springs, AR. If the Lord tarries, next year we'll be in Marshfield again for another great show. Thanks, Mr. Terry Wood!!!

This show was awesome. Terry worked his tail off putting the show together, and it came off without a hitch. I am looking forward to next year's installment.

I want to thank all of the steel players who let me play piano on their set, Larry Garrett, Jimmy Burrell, Phil Coontz, Tyler Hall, Terry Wood, and Don Helms. It was such an honor to get to play with you guys, and I hope I get to do it again sometime.

Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Helms, for being so nice to me, and for sharing all your stories of the golden age of country music. I can't wait to read your book.

Thank you also to the other staff musicians, Leon Lindsay, Kevin Haffey, Wayne Florang, and Johnny Spaugh. You all laid a solid foundation for the steel players to build on.

Most of all, thank you Terry Wood for putting in all the time and energy it took to put on this show, and thank you for including me in it.

Thanks to all of you for playing and coming to support the 2nd Annual Marshfield Steel Guitar Show!

Well, we heard some of the best singing and playing that I have heard at a steel show! We just couldn't do a show like this without everyone's help!

Don Helms set was excellent! His tribute to Hank Williams Sr and the Drifting Cowboys, it is was one of the most touching and or emotional things that I have ever heard on stage. One can tell that it comes from the heart! Someone brought me up a paper towel for Don but I had to use it myself. I literally cried when Don shared that final segment on Hank, The Drifting Cowboys and his life! He, Don Helms is, as singer Marty Stuart says, "A Master in every sense of the word!"

It was a success because of you all!

Thanks to you and all your staff for putting on a great show. All the staff musicians played very well and the steel players did a great job too. It was great to see several of my friends there and also to meet some new ones. I drove a little over 200 miles one way to get there, and got to see Jerry Roller as he was leaving for West Fork, Ar. It was also very nice to see John Terry, Scotty Henderson, the Hanleys, and all the people I didn't know. It was also a pleasure to meet you and your brother. Great turnout! It was a real treat and a joy to meet and visit with Don and Hazel Helms. It was well worth the drive up and back for a great day of fellowship with friends. Terry, I'll let you keep the paper towel. The Missouri Wildman aka Scotty Henderson even had a pick fly out into the center isle, he was annimated as usual. Great show and it will be great next year as well, looking forward to seeing you then,

Once again, I want to say thank you to everybody who came to our 2nd annual show and the players and singers were all great!

Scotty Henderson's group was tremendous! If you don't have their cd titled Show Me The Jazzabillies, you need to treat yourself and get a copy. I think it is the best Western Swing CD that I have heard in years. All of the vocals and playing are super!

Rob Parker did an outstanding job! Rob is Mr. Smooth and he does so much to help all of us at these Steel Guitar Shows. I think he should be inducted into The Steel Guitar Hall of Fame too! Thanks Rob!

As I mentioned in an earlier post Don Helms is a Master! He truly is a legend in the Steel Guitar & Country Music world! Don and Hazell are such nice folks! We enjoyed a great super together Friday evening and Don shared some very funny stories. His final tribute to Hank and The Drifting Cowboys is one of the most touching things I have ever heard.
