That's what we call the song over here, It's just a nickname that it's got, BUT, when I saw this I just couldn't believe it.
Truly Beyond Belief..

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=dam_wOm1Qac

The lyrics = WRONG,
The melody = WRONG
The chords = WRONG

Other than that the ending was somewhat of a relief so that's one thing in it's favour (I Think ?)

Shocked Maybe he had an off day. Maybe if he sang it lower he wouldn't have to keep jumping octaves. Maybe he should listen to a few more records of it and get the tune right. Maybe he should be shown a copy of the words.

Maybe he needs a good steel guitarist in the background to take away attention from him. Winking Winking

I think he's probably very happy with his performance, or he wouldn't have posted it on the internet. Ignorance is bliss. Laughing

Aside from the uke playing and singing, I enjoyed it. Cool

I think the guy is real good. I'm not sure why you guys don't like it. He is quite a bit more talented than many of the performers I have seen at steel shows who everybody seems to love. He certainly knows what he is doing harmonicly and can get around on the uke just fine. Is there some sort of rule that songs need to played exactly the same all the time in order to be
legitimate ? What I saw was a very talented musician having a relaxed time playing a tune he likes at a fun little show.

I can't tell,
this is what the Thai government thinks of this song.

I'm with Bob. I am quite mystified by the above reactions. Okay, the guy left out the second verse. I wish I had a dollar for every time a singer, even an excellent one, did that! His little syncopated rhythm figure in the bridge after the break may have been a little off. Other than that, his variations on the chord progression and melody (differing from the terrific Marty Robbins/Jerry Byrd version that comes up alongside) are theoretically sound, interesting, and, to my ears, true to the spirit of the song. JMO.
