,,,my set up at home makes it awkward to access the power switch on the BACK of the NV 112. I have it,,and my RV 3 (and Peterson tuner) plugged into a power strip. Would it be ok to leave the power on these units (especially the 112) on,,and use the power strip to turn them on and off??? |

I play through a Fender Steel King. I have everything run through a power strip and turn it all on and off using the switch on the power strip. I do turn the Gain and Master knobs all the way down on the FSK. No pops that way. I don't know if that would apply to the 112 or not. |

Jack,,,yes,,that's what happens on mine.
Sounds like a good solution Lee,,,I just wonder if it is detrimental to the amp to do that,,,maybe need a response to this question from someone like Mike Brown or Ken Fox,,,???? |

Hmm...well, the pop is probably coming from the RV-3 engaging (I have a DD-3 that does the same thing). How about leaving the RV-3 unplugged until you turn your amp on? If it's in the FX loop, just unplug it from the return jack, if it's inline with your steel, just unplug your steel.
I use a power strip with an "always on" section that I use for my effects and then switch the amps on and off. |

Thanks for the input Jonathan,,,my purpose is to avoid having to reach behind the amp to turn it off/on,,,the way it is set up at home is kinda awkward to access,,if I could leave the amp power switch on all the time and power it on/off from the power strip would be more convenient,,,but I need to make sure it won't hurt the amp to do that. |

I do not see any harm in that at all. If if it pops, you could turn down the master volume first. I do it all the time myself at home in my music room. No problems so far!
The pop is typically the large filter caps charging up in the power supply of the amp. Some amps use a time delay relay to engage the speaker after the power up sequence has started, thus avoiding the so called "transient thump".
When I worked for a commercial sound contractor we used to get a power strip from Atlas-Soundolier that had delayed ac outlets to allow the power amps to come on after the mixed and effects processors to avoid any transients from those items making it to the speaker system.
I am not sure if anyone sell a consumer strip for with that feature. |

Mike has the economical solution! As you can see from the ad for the power sequencer it can be a problem with any brand of equipment! It really is not a "problem" per say, just the way stuff works!
