Greetings From A Bewildered Soul:

Hi Guys. I'm cashing in my fiddle and dobro for a Sho-Bud Pro-1 and now I’ve got to learn how to play it. I’ll need a low-power practice amp (hopefully $100 or less) with a headphone jack and a second input for Band-In-A-Box backup tracks from the headphone jack on my Mac Mini computer. I’ll use the speaker at a low volume. Having no experience whatsoever with pickups, amps, etc. I’m hoping I can extract some answers on the forum:
(1) I’ve seen “combo amps” with CD input or AUX input. Can these inputs handle the output from my Mac's headphone jack?
(2) Is there a minimum speaker size I should stay above for decent sound quality?
(3) Do I need an equalizer? A reverb?

I’ve seen several low-power amps on the web that look like they might do the job.
Marshall MG10CD
Roland Cube 15X
Randall RX15
Fender Frontman II 15G
Peavey Rage 158 Transtube

I don’t know a thing about any of them.
Any comments or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks.

Wayne, think about getting a small Behringer mixer, or something similar. Use it to connect everything up, the steel, headphones, cd player, computer etc. All the connection problems will be solved, then you can go with virtually any amp that you can get a good deal on. You will find many uses for it in the future. Good luck.

I second Bill's suggestion. BIAB and CDs don't sound so great coming through a guitar amp. Check out a Vox DA5. They have a low price, amazing tone, an earphone jack, and some useful effects. Also, the Peavey Nashville 112 will do everything you want. It costs a little more than your range, but it will move out of the bedroom with you to real gigs when the time is right.
