I need to learn about 15 Hawaiian songs in a month. What's the best way to do this with only about an hour a day to spare for practice? Should I just focus on one tune a day, or try to run through all 15 everyday?

Jeff.........when the local Hawaiians decided to cut their CD, we hit the studio cold. I couldn't understand a lot of what they were talking about any better than I could decipher the words to some of the tunes they were singing. We cut 23 songs in two days at four hours each.
Get the drift of the tune/chord changes and then play around it. It's not all that hard UNLESS you're just getting started playing steel.

You might only have an hour a day to practice at your instrument, but I'll bet you can find a lot more time to put into learning the songs.

I drive 40 min each way for the day job. I'd put the tunes on a CD to play in my car, or an iPod, or whatever. Once the songs are in my head the practice sessions are much more productive.

At my practice, I'd chart out the chord changes (numbers are my preference) to each song. Probably learning/charting 3 or 4 a day.

I might get up early, to play along with the songs, in addition to the later practice.

Good luck. Enjoy the challenge.
